SCP-8644-A as observed through Foundation deep-space arrays. Slight distortion of background stellar field visible along the outer boundary of the rupture.

Special Containment Procedures:

Direct containment of SCP-8644 is not possible.

Foundation efforts are focused on controlling public awareness and maintaining informational stability. All astronomical data related to SCP-8644 is restricted to Level 5 personnel. Civilian observations are to be altered or dismissed as conventional astrophysical phenomena.

Deployment of Scranton Reality Anchors (SRAs) is authorized only in indirect configurations. Attempts to directly influence or stabilize SCP-8644 have produced no measurable effect.

Personnel assigned to SCP-8644 are to be regularly evaluated for cognitohazard exposure. Individuals displaying compulsive behavior related to the anomaly or attempts to interfere with containment protocols are to be removed from duty and consequently programmed a meeting with the Ethics Committee.

At the moment, all procedures are considered provisional.

Description:

SCP-8644 designates a non-observable spatial structure positioned around a visible cosmic rupture, collectively referred to as SCP-8644-A.

SCP-8644 is located above Earth at Right Ascension 19h 53m 41.2s and Declination +08° 44′ 17″, within the direction of the constellation Aquila, at an estimated distance of approximately
3.2×109 light years.

SCP-8644-A manifests as a localized distortion of the stellar field, in which background stars appear displaced, dimmed, or entirely absent. Spectrographic and gravitational analysis indicate inconsistencies with known astrophysical phenomena. The anomaly does not behave as a gravitational lens, singularity, or nebular formation, despite heavy similarities.

Surrounding SCP-8644-A is SCP-8644, an undetectable boundary region characterized by near-zero Hume levels. This region does not register through conventional or paratechnological instrumentation. Its presence is inferred exclusively through negative space measurements, missing data, and discontinuities in the current observed reality.

SCP-8644 functions as a containment barrier, hereafter referred to as the "Lock".

The "Lock" encloses an interior region from which no information, radiation, or matter has been successfully extracted, inserted, or measured. Attempts to map or model the interior of SCP-8644-A result in non-resolvable data loss or recursive contradictions.

Analysis indicates that the Lock is actively maintaining separation between baseline reality and the enclosed region.

Two extranormal entities have been identified in association with SCP-8644-A:

  • SCP-8644-1 is the entity contained within the rupture, provisionally identified with the biblical figure Jezebel. SCP-8644-1 is classified as a Type Green reality bender of extreme magnitude. It exerts continuous pressure against the Lock, correlating with fluctuations in the size, luminosity, and instability of SCP-8644-A.

SCP-8644-1 demonstrates persistent escape-oriented behavior. All observed activity is consistent with attempts to breach SCP-8644 and access baseline reality. Indirect evidence suggests that SCP-8644-1 possesses strong cognitohazardous capabilities, capable of influencing human thought patterns at long range. Affected individuals may develop compulsive urges to interfere with containment protocols, rationalize the necessity of release of SCP-8644-1, or reinterpret SCP-8644 as non-hostile.

Recovered communications and behavioral models indicate that SCP-8644-1’s primary objective is unrestricted manifestation within baseline reality. Projected outcomes of a successful breach include large-scale reality restructuring, termination of existing universal constants, and potential recursive recreation of reality states for repeated destruction. Motivational analysis suggests extreme sadistic drive combined with an aversion to confinement.

  • SCP-8644-2 designates the entity maintaining the Lock, provisionally identified with the biblical figure Elijah. SCP-8644-2 is also classified as a Type Green reality bender. Its presence is inferred through localized stabilization events, temporary restoration of Hume consistency, and resistance against expansion of SCP-8644-A.

SCP-8644-2 appears to function as a counterforce to SCP-8644-1, sustaining the integrity of SCP-8644 despite ongoing degradation. No direct communication from SCP-8644-2 has been verified. Its motives are interpreted as preservation of baseline reality.

Long-term observation indicates that SCP-8644 is undergoing gradual structural failure. This degradation is marked by increased irregularity in the boundary of SCP-8644-A, escalation in Hume instability, and a measurable rise in cognitohazardous incidents among assigned personnel.

Failure of SCP-8644 is projected to result in total collapse of baseline reality and Earth itself, resulting in a CK-End-Of-Reality Scenario and an XK-End-Of-The-World Scenario.

Current containment strategy is based on non-interference and suppression of cognitohazardous spread.

[BEGIN LOG]

00:02 — Routine stellar survey in sector ██.

00:13 — Automated system flags minor distortion in background stellar alignment. Initial classification is instrument error.

00:27 — Distortion persists across independent arrays.

00:41 — Spectrographic analysis is initiated. No consistent emission or absorption pattern detected.

01:05 — Region displays localized absence of expected stellar data. No gravitational lensing signature observed.

01:32 — Preliminary designation assigned as an anomalous void structure.

02:10 — Hume readings are requested.

02:14 — Returned values of 0.06 to 0.035 across multiple sampling attempts.

02:16 — Equipment recalibration ordered.

02:33 — Recalibration is completed. Readings are still unchanged.

03:01 — The Secondary Team verifies measurements and reports almost identical results.

03:18 — Boundary of anomaly cannot be consistently mapped. Measurements vary by around ±3.7% between scans.

03:44 — Attempt to model spatial structure results in incomplete datasets. Missing values are replaced automatically by system interpolation.

03:46 — Interpolation produces contradictory geometry.

03:47 — Dr. Ellergard reports confusion and tries to confront Dr. Keller about his status.

04:02 — Manual override disables interpolation.

04:05 — Resulting model contains non-contiguous space.

04:11 — Dr. Keller notes:
“Doesn't look empty to me. I think we're missing something. I am very confused about it; Humes are so low even Scranton would be impressed.”

04:29 — Further Hume sampling indicates abrupt transition from baseline reality to near-zero values at anomaly boundary.

04:42 — A hypothesis about the presence of a non-observable structure is proposed.

05:21 — Internal designation is updated to containment structure.

05:38 — Secondary anomaly detected within boundary. Classified as SCP-8644-A.

05:52 — Project reassigned to high-priority classification.

05:54 — Dr. Keller notes:
"Holy hell. This is fantastically scary. Don't know what the O5s will say about this."

05:55 — Dr. Ellergard concurs with Dr. Keller about the shock the discovery brought them: "This is absurd. I really am speechless, Doc. I feel quite scared. S- something is whispering to me and it is beautiful."

5:56 — Dr. Keller: "Let's get back. I don't feel very well."

Close Addendum 8644.2

Addendum 8644.2 — Cognitohazard Report

Following the identification of SCP-8644-1, a consistent pattern of cognitohazardous influence has been observed among personnel assigned to SCP-8644.

The effect does not appear to rely on a single sensory trigger. Exposure through visual data, theoretical models, or even secondary documentation has been sufficient to produce measurable cognitive deviation from baseline. The influence is therefore considered non-localized and partially abstract in nature.

Affected individuals initially display increased attention toward SCP-8644-A and its associated distortions. This develops into prolonged cognitive fixation, accompanied by a gradual shift in interpretation of the anomaly itself. Over time, SCP-8644 is no longer perceived as a containment structure, but as "an obstruction, or something requiring correction", quoting an affected researcher.

As exposure continues, subjects begin to reorganize existing beliefs to support this conclusion. It is important to note that individuals consistently report that their reasoning remains their own.

In advanced stages, this reinterpretation produces extreme behavioral consequences. Personnel may seek unauthorized access to restricted data, challenge containment directives, or attempt to interfere with stabilization systems.

These actions are to be punished accordingly, after discussion with the Ethics Committee.

Language patterns across affected personnel show convergence toward a small set of recurring ideas centered on release, correction, and inevitability. Notably, descriptions associated with threat, danger, or hostility diminish over time, even in individuals previously aware of projected end-of-reality scenarios.

All currently available evidence attributes these effects to SCP-8644-1. No cognitohazardous influence linked to SCP-8644-2 has been identified.

Attempts at mitigation have had limited success. Standard memetic resistance protocols slow progression but do not prevent it. Increased exposure correlates directly with severity, with higher-clearance personnel demonstrating faster cognitive restructuring and fixation.

Addendum 8644.3 — Interview Log and Designation Report

Interviewed: Dr. Miriam Hale, Senior Researcher in Comparative Theology and Anomalous Cognition
Interviewer: Dr. Aaron Voss, Lead Researcher assigned to SCP-8644
Additional Participant: O5-█ (remote)
Location: Site-█, Secure Interview Chamber, Antarctica.
Clearance Level: 5/8644

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr. Voss: For the record, this interview concerns your analysis of SCP-8644 and its associated entities. You’ve reviewed all current data?

Dr. Hale: Yes, I have.

Dr. Voss: Then please give us something concrete.

Dr. Hale: It is a structure.

Dr. Voss: We already know that.

Dr. Hale: No, I mean something that behaves like it was actually and literally meant to exist.

Dr. Voss: Do you mean the Lock?

Dr. Hale: Correct.

Dr. Voss: And inside it?

Dr. Hale: There is pressure, a lot of it.

Dr. Voss: That’s not really a complete answer.

Dr. Hale: Well, it's what we have for now.

Dr. Voss: You’ve read the cognitohazard report, right?

Dr. Hale: I have, yes.

Dr. Voss: Personnel attempting to interfere with containment, calling it an error and things like this… You think that’s external influence?

Dr. Hale: I think it's directed.

Dr. Voss: Directed by what? And why?

Dr. Hale: By something that doesn’t need to act directly.

Dr. Voss: I figured, but… (Dr. Voss pauses briefly) alright, explain it to us.

Dr. Hale: Random cognitohazards produce variance, so different people, different interpretations… This doesn’t. It produces some sort of alignment.

Dr. Voss: Alignment? Could you elaborate?

Dr. Hale: Same conclusions, same language, same justifications, everything's the same!

Dr. Voss: It is quite confusing… So, something is steering them, right?

Dr. Hale: Or narrowing the path until there’s only one direction left.

Dr. Voss: Right… and the second entity?

Dr. Hale: I thought you'd have figured it out already. It does the opposite!

Dr. Voss: Please, let's keep this formal; remember who you're talking to. (pauses) Could you define "opposite"?

Dr. Hale: It stabilizes and contains the pressure inside, without actually ending or destroying anything.

O5-█: So, you are describing a system with two active agents.

Dr. Hale: Correct, sir.

O5-█: One is applying pressure, and one maintaining the so-called Lock.

Dr. Hale: That is also correct.

O5-█: Then why are we here now?

Dr. Hale: Well, because the pattern is familiar. Don't you see it?

Dr. Voss: How would this be familiar?

Dr. Hale: We’ve seen this structure before. Narratively, I mean.

Dr. Voss: I’m going to need you to be very careful with what you say next.

Dr. Hale: Across all affected personnel, independent reconstruction produces the same roles, as such.
A contained influence that spreads through others, a resisting force that delays but does not destroy, a system that continues under tension instead of trying to fix itself… that pattern already has names.

O5-█: Say them, then.

Dr. Hale: The entity within the rupture aligns with Jezebel.

Dr. Voss: Alright, but that's not a conclusion, that’s just a casual reference.

Dr. Hale: But the model fits well! How is it not clear?

O5-█: And the second?

Dr. Hale: Elijah.

Dr. Voss: You’re assigning religious identities to two unknown entities based on behavioral overlap. I'm guessing you could go work as a janitor telling stories to our Class-Ds before we productively use them.

O5-█: That is not formal Dr. Voss. Remember your role.

Dr. Voss anxiously clicks his pen while trying to stay calm

Dr. Hale: I’m assigning names to a pattern that is already reproducing itself inside our personnel.

Dr. Voss: You understand that it could be the cognitohazard and not some made-up theory like this?

Dr. Hale: Yes, I do. And that's our problem.

O5-█: Do the affected personnel use these identifiers?

Dr. Hale: Not consistently, as far as I've noted. But they actually converge with the same names and roles. And, when given the names, they do not immediately reject their beliefs.

O5-█: That could reinforce the effect.

Dr. Hale: It already exists. Naming it obviously doesn’t create it, but it just makes it visible, or easier to spread and track… I still am not completely sure about it.

O5-█: So, what is our final assessment.

Dr. Hale: SCP-8644-1 is an entity exerting indirect influence to induce its own release. SCP-8644-2 is maintaining a containment state that is degrading over time.
Their interaction is stable only in the sense that it has not yet failed, and it will fail indeed.

Dr. Voss: That’s not what I asked.

Dr. Hale: Then formally? Provisional identification is justified.

O5-█: It is noted. Designations will not be formalized at this stage. Orders are to continue observation. Do not assume mythological equivalence until new directives.

Dr. Hale: Of course…

Dr. Voss: This interview is over. Thank you for your time.

02:17 — Technician Harker reports irregular behavior in Dr. Warren. Subject appears distracted, repeatedly pausing during input sequences.

02:19 — Dr. Warren disables two non-critical SRA nodes without authorization.

02:20 — Harker immediately questions the action.

Harker: Hey, you just dropped two anchors, what are you doing? That’s not part of the calibration! Re-enable them now.

Dr. Warren: No, they’re redundant. I am, they are… in the way.

Harker: In the way of what? What are you saying?

Dr. Warren: (pause) Of correction.

02:21 — Dr. Warren initiates access request for full SRA network override.

02:21:32 — Request is denied automatically.

02:22 — Dr. Warren attempts manual bypass.

02:22:11 — Harker initiates security alert.

02:22:30 — Dr. Warren continues input despite the alert status.

Harker: Stop it now! There will be consequences!

Dr. Warren: YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! None of this is supposed to be here! She is supposed to be free!

Harker: What isn’t?

Dr. Warren: The Lock.

02:23 — Dr. Warren successfully disables an additional SRA node through manual override.

02:23:08 — Minor fluctuation detected in localized Hume stability within monitoring systems. No external effect confirmed.

02:23:15 — Security Unit Sigma-3 is immediately dispatched.

02:23:20 — Audio recording indicates elevated vocal stress from both of the staff members.

Harker: Caleb, listen to me! You need to step away, NOW!

Dr. Warren: (quietly) She’s not wrong.

Harker: What?

Dr. Warren: She has been patient. Longer than we can measure.

Harker: Do you listen to yourself? What are you even saying!? I said STOP. It's an order!

Dr. Warren: There is-

02:23:41 — Dr. Warren inputs final override command.

02:23:44 — Command fails due to remote lockout initiated by Site Command.

02:24 — Security Unit Sigma-3 enters control room.

02:24:06 — Dr. Warren resists detainment with physical strength.

Dr. Warren: YOU'RE MAKING IT WORSE! SHE IS HUNGRY AND WANTS DEATH! LET HER BE FED WITH THE SUFFERING OF EARTH!

Harker: Restrain him, goddammit!

02:24:11 — Subject is restrained.

02:24:18 — Dr. Warren continues speaking during the sedation process.

02:25 — Subject loses consciousness.

02:26 — All SRA nodes restored to previous configuration.

02:31 — Systems report stabilization. No lasting structural deviation detected.

[END LOG]

Post-Incident Notes:

Dr. Warren had no prior record of disciplinary issues or cognitohazard susceptibility. Psychological evaluations conducted ██ hours prior to the incident indicated baseline stability.

Review of Dr. Warren’s workstation revealed repeated unauthorized access to SCP-8644-A imaging data and theoretical models over a period of ███ hours.

Audio analysis confirms no external signal present within the chamber during the incident.

Despite this, Dr. Warren consistently referred to an external presence.

No further explanation has been determined.
