Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-9159 is contained within a 3 ft by 3 ft storage closet located at Site-11. Inside the closet is a safe used to store SCP-9159. The closet door consists of a 2-inch-thick reinforced metal door accessible only through Level 2 keycard authorization. Cameras are positioned both inside and outside the containment area. Access to the room is restricted to personnel approved by SCP-9159's assigned caretakers.

SCP-9159 is not to be plugged into any computer unless authorization has been granted by its assigned caretakers. Any tests involving SCP-9159 must be carried out under armed supervision. Guards assigned to testing are to remain anonymous to any individual using a computer connected to SCP-9159.
Description:
SCP-9159 is a metallic gray standard USB Type-A flash drive measuring approximately 3 inches in length. Aside from its anomalous properties, SCP-9159 functions identically to a normal USB flash drive.
The flash drive contains a ZIP file labeled “SUPERCOOLVIRUSDOWNLOADER.zip”. This file has been designated SCP-9159-01.
When opened, SCP-9159-01 displays a window titled “SUPER COOL VIRUS DOWNLOADER”. The window contains text stating: “When pressing cool button think of another human.” The program contains several buttons, each of which produces an anomalous effect on the person the user is thinking about while pressing the selected button.
SCP-9159-01 Interface Functions:
The following functions are available within SCP-9159-01. Each function produces an anomalous physiological effect in the individual the user is actively focusing on at the time of activation.
- Cancer: Induces rapid onset malignant tumor growth within the targeted individual. Progression is typically aggressive and untreated cases are usually fatal.
- Heart Attack: Causes acute myocardial infarction in the targeted individual. In most recorded cases, the event is immediately fatal.
- Flu: Causes the targeted individual to contract an acute and highly symptomatic strain of influenza within minutes of activation.
- COVID-19: Causes the targeted individual to contract a severe form of SARS-CoV-2 infection, regardless of prior immunity or vaccination status.
- Bubonic Plague: Causes infection with Yersinia pestis, with symptom onset occurring within 24 hours of activation.
- Sepsis: Induces rapid systemic infection leading to multi-organ failure in the targeted individual within hours.
- Stroke: Causes either ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke depending on unknown selection parameters. Survivability is low.
- Organ Failure: Causes simultaneous failure of multiple major organ systems without apparent external cause.
- Hemorrhage: Triggers uncontrolled internal and external bleeding with no identifiable physical injury.
- Autoimmune Response: Causes the targeted individual’s immune system to begin attacking healthy tissue, resulting in rapid systemic deterioration.
- Rebound: Causes the effect to be redirected to the user instead of the targeted individual. Activation frequency appears inconsistent.
- Random: Causes one of the above effects to be selected and applied at random to the targeted individual.
Discovery Log:
On April 12th, 2026, Dr. [REDACTED] discovered SCP-9159 after purchasing a standard USB flash drive from a [REDACTED] thrift store.
Upon initial inspection, Dr. [REDACTED] connected the device to a secure Foundation terminal, where the contained file “SUPERCOOLVIRUSDOWNLOADER.zip” was accessed. Believing the file to be a conventional malicious program, Dr. [REDACTED] activated SCP-9159-01 and selected the “Random” function while thinking of Dr. [REDACTED].
Destruction Log:
Following exposure to SCP-9159-01, Dr. [REDACTED] began exhibiting signs of acute psychological distress and increased paranoia. Dr. [REDACTED] later concluded that SCP-9159 required immediate neutralization.
On May 16th, 2026, Dr. [REDACTED] destroyed SCP-9159 using a blunt metal instrument, rendering the object nonfunctional.
Shortly after the destruction of SCP-9159, Dr. [REDACTED] committed suicide using a [REDACTED], resulting in immediate death.
