Object Class: Contained
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-9607 is to be kept permanently locked and observed outside of requested exploration periods. All photographs taken from the structure should be kept in small plastic baggies within Site-13's evidence wing, and may be accessed with approval from a superior officer. Contents are not to be shown to any outside subjects without prior screenings and acknowledgements.

Description: SCP-9607 is a confined interior space of a potentially infinite diameter located within the Shawton Warehouse in Algaton, AZ. It exhibits exact and unchanging resemblance to a traditional photography darkroom in upwards of 87% of recorded spacial repetitions. Within the lower repetition threshold, environments typically exhibit non-traditional objecting which often renders proper development difficult to impossible. Common examples bright and disorienting light fixtures, drastic but non-lethal temperature alterations, and additional liquids (most often water) coating various surfaces. Individuals within abnormal environments typically report increased feelings of paranoia, confusion, anxiety, and agitation.
SCP-9607 replications regularly contain developed and undeveloped photos of differing content; however, these photos share common themes which are consistent across large swaths of recorded datasets. Photos contained within SCP-9607 are always of human environments. A majority of these photos are either of homes, workplaces, or streets, with occasional deviations. These deviations increase as individuals venture further from the buildings original entrance, although have never reached a point of majority. The causes of this effect are largely unknown.
The exact origin of photos present within SCP-9607 is not understood, despite a multitude of theories. Largely, most individuals believe it either generates images itself through some process, or is pulling them from some sort of external source. Neither is capable of being adequately evidenced. Additionally, many of the photos themselves contain unexplained distortions. Commonly, faces within photos are partially or entirely unrecognizable, or figures are altered so entirely that their exact makeup is unclear. This effect can vary within the same photo, leading to a general inconsistency which renders any possible theories vague. Further distortions include the removal or clear alteration of background, such as strange perspective shifts, geometrically improbable architecture, and hazy environmental elements.
Rarely, individuals have claimed to recognize the contents of catalogued photos. Although compelling, these assertions remain largely unproven due to an inability to name specific details or persons within them. It is believed these cases may be a result of confabulation or otherwise caused by superficial resemblances.
